About Our Speakers
Penny Osmon
BA, CHC, CPC, CPC-I, PCS
Director of Educational Strategies
Wisconsin Medical Society
Ms. Osmon has more than 17 years of health
care experience in Medicare compliance,
coding and practice management.
She currently presents educational programs on
revenue cycle, risk management and health
information management for physician practices
and hospitals throughout Wisconsin and the
Midwest with an emphasis on reducing waste,
mitigating risk and improving quality.
Ms. Osmon is a Professional Medical Coding Curriculum
Instructor, is Certified in Healthcare Compliance
through the Health Care Compliance Association
and serves on the Wisconsin Medical Group
Management Association Third Party Payer and
Medicare and Medicaid Workgroups.
Ms. Osmon is an AAPC-trained ICD-10 instructor and a
founding member of the WICD-10 task force and
also serves on the WHIMA ICD-10 task force.
Mary E. Muchow
Senior Analyst, Provider Outreach & Education
Wisconsin Physicians Service – Medicare
With 31 years’ experience with WPS Medicare,
Ms. Muchow has held progressively responsible
positions in claims examination and entry,
medical review and training.
Prior to joining the Provider Outreach & Education (POE) team,
she spent several years working in the Benefit
Integrity Unit. As the Medicare fraud information
specialist (MFIS), Ms. Muchow represented
multiple CMS contractors as a liaison between
federal investigators, prosecutors, CMS and
other agencies. In her MFIS role, Ms. Muchow
often presented Medicare fraud and abuse
topics to law enforcement and audiences on a
national level. She joined the POE team in 2003,
and enjoys supporting and providing outreach
activities that meet CMS requirements relative to
provider education, including the development
of professional and productive provider
partnerships.
