Evaluation and Management (E&M) Coding - It’s the Documentation that Counts! - Madison @ Wisconsin Medical Society
9:00 pm — 3:00 pm

Although Medical Necessity is the ultimate driver of an E&M service, it’s the medical record documentation that determines whether an E&M code accurately represents the care provided. It is estimated that over 80 percent of primary care services are E&M encounters. Increased scrutiny by all payers has resulted in the need to take a closer look at our documentation. WPS Medicare Part B has provided us with some of the most common E&M documentation errors they see during the medical review process. During this interactive session we will use both the 1995 and 1997 documentation guidelines to examine these common errors and provide solutions ensuring your documentation is rock solid.

Attend this seminar to increase your understanding of the E&M coding nuances and leave knowing your physician’s documentation supports the level of service billed.

Participants will discover: How to document time; how to determine whether a patient is new or established; what the documentation requirements are for a consultation; how to document the status of three chronic conditions and when you can do this; how to document shared care; and much more....

Who Should Attend? Physicians; Coders; Billing Managers Reimbursement Managers; and Billing Service Professionals

Registration 8:30 a.m.; Program: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (all sessions)
