Wisconsin is a great place to live and practice medicine. From cities large and urban to towns small and right out of a postcard, Wisconsin is a beautiful state with a superb network of hospitals and clinics providing high quality care.
Wisconsin is one of the few states not facing a medical liability crisis. The state legislature worked quickly to reinstate a cap on noneconomic damages in medical liability cases after the previous cap was ruled unconstitutional. Liability insurance premiums are controlled through the cap and also by the unique
Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund (Fund). The Fund pays that portion of medical professional liability claims in excess of $1,000,000 for each occurrence and $3,000,000 for all occurrences in any one policy year. This keeps premiums stable and reasonable.
Wisconsin is also home to
two superb medical schools, the
Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee and the
University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison.
