Effect of High-Energy Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy on Osteochondritis Dissecans in a Rabbit Model

Develop a non-invasive intervention with the use of the Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy on the OCD in a rabbit model.

The Fort Crawford Museum Medical History and Health Project

Expansion of educational programs on Medical History and Medical Health issues to include revision and updating of older medical exhibits and completion of new exhibits.

Leadership Opportunities with Communities, the Underserved and Special Populations (LOCUS)
A leadership and service program for medical students. Students are matched with physician mentors, participate in educational and professional development workshops, and complete a community health project.

University of Wisconsin Medical Students for Minority Concerns (MSMC)
19th Annual Health Fair
Daylong event held on March 4, 2006 offering demonstrations, informational booths, and medical screening focused on prevention and self-care.

Volunteer Braillist and Tapists, Inc.
Production and maintenance of Braille copies of information regarding cancer, diabetes and other medical conditions.
$1,000 Award

2006 Summer Fellowship Awards

  • Sherrie L. Bencik, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
    Ms. Bencik will examine how the State government works with practicing physicians, hospitals, schools and community organizations to provide healthy lifestyle programs for primary school aged children in Wisconsin.
    $3,500 Award

  • Kyle B. Jones, Medical College of Wisconsin
    Mr. Jones will conduct a study to identify how increased co-payments, reduced benefits and other recent Medicaid changes may affect the health care and well being of Medicaid-covered children from their parents' perspective.
    $3,500 Award
