Young Physician Section

The Young Physicians Section (YPS) of the Wisconsin Medical Society of Wisconsin is dedicated to providing a means by which young physicians can communicate their opinions and concerns in a collective manner to organized medicine, the legislature and the public.

A "young" physician is one who is under age 40 or has been practicing fewer than five years. In this capacity, you have needs that differ from those of your colleagues who have been in practice longer. The YPS understands the challenges you face as you start your career in medicine, so education about the particular policies and issues that are vital to your profession and personal growth is our key mission.

  • The YPS provides you with a channel to air your concerns about a variety of issues including closed insurance panels, loan repayment options, and funding of graduate medical education.
  • The opportunity to learn more about important policies and issues such as insurance and governmental mandates and tips on how to deal with managed care.
  • Networking opportunities to further develop professional alliances.
  • Assistance in practice management issues.
  • The opportunity to participate in a mentoring program with residents who want to learn more about your type of practice and the pluses and minuses of the different types of practice settings.
