The Wisconsin Medical Society’s House of Delegates confirmed the elections of the following directors and officers at the Society’s Annual Meeting held in Madison April 17-18, 2009.
District 1
- Michael Lischak, MD, of Brookfield, is Board certified in occupational medicine, aerospace medicine and undersea and hyperbaric medicine. He serves as medical director for Columbia St. Mary’s Corporate WORx with his office in West Allis and is also Immediate Past President of the Medical Society of Milwaukee County.
- George L. Morris, MD, of Whitefish Bay, is a Board-certified neurologist practicing with Epilepsy & Seizure Care Specialists, SC in Milwaukee. He is also President-Elect of the Medical Society of Milwaukee County.
District 2
- David Murdy, MD, of Janesville, is Board-certified in internal medicine and practices at Dean Health System’s Riverview Clinic in Janesville.
- Jay A. Gold, MD, JD, MPH, of Madison, is senior vice president and chief medical officer of MetaStar, a health care quality-improvement organization headquartered in Madison. He holds faculty appointments at the Medical College of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and Marquette University Law School. He is also immediate past president of the Dane County Medial Society.
- Tosha Wetterneck, MD, MS, of Madison, was re-elected to the Board. In addition, she was elected alternate delegate to the AMA for 2010-2011. Doctor Wetterneck is board certified in internal medicine and serves primarily as a hospitalist with UW Hospital and Clinics in Madison. She is also an Associate Professor with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
- Kurt Wilhem, II, MD, of Boscobel, was re-elected to a three-year term on Board. Doctor Wilhelm is a board-certified family physician with the Boscobel Clinic.
District 4
- Jean Montgomery, MD, of Stevens Point, is an internal medicine specialist with the Aspirus Kronenwetter Clinic and the Aspirus Stevens Point Clinic.
District 5
- Kevin A. Jessen, MD, of Fond du Lac, is a family physician for the Aurora Medical Group central region. He was also was also re-elected vice chair of the Board for a one-year term.
District 6
- Bruce M. Neal, MD, FACS, of Green Bay, was elected to a three-year term on the Board. Doctor Neal is a board-certified urologist with BayCare Clinic Urological Surgeons in Green Bay.
- Nicky Plementosh, MD, FACOG, of De Pere, was elected to the Board to complete the final year of a three-year term vacated by another physician. Doctor Plementosh is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as robotic surgery. She practices at Women’s Health Care OB-GYN in Green Bay.
Medical Schools Section
- Yolanda T. Becker, MD, FACS, of Verona, was re-elected to a one-year term as the Medical Schools Section member of the Board. Doctor Becker is a board-certified transplant surgeon at UW Health’s Division of Transplantation.
Resident Fellow Section
- Claudia L. Reardon, MD, of Madison, was re-elected to a one-year term as the Resident Fellow Section representative. Doctor Reardon was also elected Chair of the Society’s Resident Fellow Section. A psychiatrist, she is a resident at UW Hospital and Clinics.
Medical Student Section
- Cory Hartman, of Wauwatosa, and Bill Ragalie, of Madison, were elected to one-year terms on the Board. Hartman is a student at the Medical College of Wisconsin; Ragalie, is a student at UW-Madison’s School of Medicine and Public Health.
In addition to the confirmation of directors, the following Society officers were elected.
- George M. Lange, MD, FACP, of River Hills, was re-elected Chair of the Board of Directors. Doctor Lange, who practices with Westgate Medical Group in Wauwatosa, is board-certified in internal medicine and geriatrics.
- Kevin A. Jessen, MD, (see above) was re-elected Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.
- Thomas J. Luetzow, MD, of Watertown, was elected President-elect. (Click here to read a news release.) Doctor Luetzow is a family physician.
- Charles J. Rainey, MD, JD, FCLM, of Milwaukee, was elected Speaker of the House. He is a forensic psychiatrist and an assistant professor for the Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.
- Michael M. Miller, MD, of Madison, was elected Vice Speaker. In addition, he was re-elected to the AMA delegation (see below). Doctor Miller practices addiction medicine and addiction psychiatry and has been the medical director of the NewStart Alcohol/Drug Treatment Program at Meriter Hospital in Madison since 1989. He has recently completed a two-year term as president of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and is a past president of the Dane County Medical Society.
- John Hartman, MD, of Pulaski, was re-elected Treasurer. Doctor Hartman is the president and CEO of Visionex and works as a nephrologist in Appleton and Green Bay.
AMA Delegation
The following physicians were elected delegates:
- Mahendr S. Kochar, MD, MACP, of Brookfield, was elected AMA delegate for 2009-2011. Doctor Kochar is Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology and Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is also a member of the Society’s Board of Directors and a member of the AMA’s Council on Medical Education.
- Tim McAvoy, MD, of Brookfield, was re-elected AMA delegate for 2010-2011. Doctor McAvoy is an internist practicing in Waukesha.
- Michael M. Miller, MD, was re-elected delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA) for 2010-2011. (see bio above)
- Paul Wertsch, MD, of Madison, was elected AMA delegate for 2009-2010. Doctor Wertsch is a family physician at Wildwood Family Clinic in Madison. He is also a past president of the Society.
The following physicians were elected alternate delegates:
- Andrea Hillerud, MD, of Eau Claire, is a family physician with the Marshfield Clinic’s Oakwood Center in Eau Claire. She was elected alternate delegate for 2009-2011, and is also a member of the Society’s Board of Directors.
- Barbara Hummel, MD, of Muskego, is a family physician practicing in West Allis. She was elected alternate delegate for 2009-2011, and is also President of the Medical Society of Milwaukee County and a member of the Society’s Board of Directors.
- Doctors Lange, Rainey and Wetterneck (see bios above) were elected AMA alternate delegates for 2010-2011.
