• OUR MISSION

Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

Issues and Policy

The Wisconsin Medical Society makes every effort to keep its members aware of issues that affect the practice of medicine in the state of Wisconsin. Successful advocacy on behalf of physicians and the profession depends on member awareness of these issues, knowledge of our policies and active involvement within the Society.

With the tools below, members can familiarize themselves with and participate in Society advocacy, search for a particular issue of importance to them, find the Society’s position on a given issue, track legislative activity and browse any supplemental information related to it.

Search issues:

Find information the Society has posted online about a specific issue by using the search feature on the right. Search results can include a policy in our online Policy Compendium or related state legislation we are monitoring in our Lobbying Tracker.

Policy Compendium:

Use the two formats in this section to quickly look up Society policies or to learn where the Society stands on issues affecting the practice of medicine.

  • Browse the Society’s current policies online. (Updated after every quarterly Board meeting.)
  • View, download and print the Policy Compendium as a complete document or by section. (Includes an addendum of updated policies throughout the year.)

Lobbying Tracker:

Track individual bills moving through the Wisconsin State Legislature–from their introduction in the state Senate or Assembly, to passage as a law (or failure to pass) in our Lobbying Tracker. Also, you can find any accompanying information about a bill, including Medigram articles and any testimony, letters or statements the Society has written or signed onto as it advocates on your behalf.
