Bertalot named president of Wisconsin Medical Society Insurance and Financial Services

MADISON (October 19, 2017)—The Wisconsin Medical Society (Society) is pleased to announce that Shawna Bertalot, CIC, ACI, has been promoted to president of the Wisconsin Medical Society Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. She brings 27 years of industry experience to this new role with Wisconsin Medical Society Insurance.

Bertalot joined the Society in 2012, adding her energy and expertise to the launch of the Risk Purchasing Group and Alternative Risk efforts. As vice president of Business Development, she was instrumental in developing new relationships with larger systems leading to revenue growth.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Bertalot began her career with a London Broker handling the placement of Directors & Officers (D&O) and Errors & Omissions (E&O) insurance. She also has held underwriting and agency ownership and executive team leadership positions.

Bertalot’s focus for the health care industry has been property and casualty insurance, with particular emphasis in professional and management liability (D&O, Fiduciary and Managed Care E&O). Her clients have included hospitals, hospice organizations and attorneys and law firms.

Bertalot holds the CIC designation (Certificate Insurance Counselor), completed her ACI designation (Associate in Captive Insurance) in 2014, and is a member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS), the Wisconsin Society for Healthcare Risk Management (WSHRM) and the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
