DRU-012: Controlled Substance Testing in Infants

Controlled Substance Testing in Infants: The Wisconsin Medical Society supports allowing any hospital employee who provides health care, social worker or foster care worker to refer an infant to a physician for testing for controlled substances (if the referring party suspects that the infant has controlled substances in his or her system because of the mother’s use of controlled substances while she was pregnant with the infant) without the consent of the parent or guardian to the test.
