Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

Council updating policy on care for people with mental illness

The Council on Health Care Access will begin work on updating Society policy on care for patients with mental illness at its May 1 meeting. All Society members are welcome to attend or participate via telephone.

People with mental illness often struggle with stigma, care coordination and other difficulties as they navigate the health care system, and many health care professionals feel unequipped to address the unique needs that often accompany mental illness. The Council will develop new policy and explore opportunities to make improvements in this high-profile area.

The Council meets at 11 a.m. at the Society’s headquarters in Madison. For more information or if you are interested in joining the discussion, e-mail Nikita Sessler in the Society’s Government Relations Department or call 866.442.3800.
