Wisconsin Medical Society members already have submitted comments via the new Virtual Reference Committees on three of the 26 resolutions that will be discussed at the Society’s Annual Meeting in April. The Virtual Reference Committees, which allow members to view and submit comments on resolutions in advance of the Annual Meeting, stem from a commitment by Speaker Charles Rainey, MD, JD, to facilitate increased participation in the Society’s policy-making process and allow members who cannot attend the Annual Meeting to submit their views on resolutions.
- Resolution 103: Medical Licensure Requirements and Workforce Concerns
- Resolution 104: Medical Examining Board Training Proposal
- Resolution 211: Electronic Health Records
The Society’s primary method of developing policies is through the House of Delegates. Policies adopted by the House guide the Society’s decisions and activities on a variety of health care issues. Resolutions submitted by Society members provide the framework for this policy development. Click here to see the resolutions submitted for consideration at the 2013 Annual Meeting. (Member login is required; click here for instructions.)
Comments may be submitted through Virtual Reference Committees until April 1. Resolutions and comments will remain viewable to members through the Annual Meeting. Any member wishing to comment on a resolution after April 1 will be able to do so at the live Reference Committee hearing at the Annual Meeting.
To review resolutions and submit or view comments, go to the 2013 Resolutions page of the Society website. (Member login is required; click here for instructions.) More information about the Society’s Virtual Reference Committees, including instructions, is here.
