All Society members are invited to participate in Strategic Council meetings Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10. The Strategic Councils develop policies for year-round Society activity and are an important way to influence health care in Wisconsin.
The Council on Health Care Quality and Population Health is working to promote effective efforts for obesity prevention and wellness, including clinical interventions, integration with existing programs and a focus on health literacy. The Council meets Thursday, May 9 at 1 p.m.
The Council on Health Care Ethics will continue its focus on decision-making for newborns at the edge of viability and the potential consequences of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals decision in Montalvo v. Borkovec, 2002. It also will consider policy regarding ethical use of placebos. The Council meets at 10 a.m. Friday, May 10.
On the docket for the Council on Legislation are the state budget, informed consent legislation and activity at the Medical Examining Board. The Council will advise the Society’s advocacy team on policy and strategy to strengthen the voice of physicians in the Capitol. The Council meets Friday, May 10 at 1 p.m.
