National Government Services (NGS) – the new Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) for Part B Jurisdiction 6 (J6) – is offering complimentary webinars in June about the transition to its electronic data interchange (EDI). June 30 is deadline to avoid 2014 eRx penalty
Physicians, other eligible professionals (EPs) and groups participating in the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO) for the Electronic Prescribing (eRx) Incentive Program must successfully report as electronic prescribers before June 30 to avoid a 2 percent penalty in 2014 for professional services covered under Medicare Part B’s Physician Fee Schedule (PFS). The University of Wisconsin Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention (UW-CTRI) is partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for a new national initiative that encourages smokers to “Talk with Your Doctor About Quitting.” Read more.
Rural Health Conference is June 26-28
The 2013 Wisconsin Rural Health Conference is scheduled for June 26-28 at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. This annual educational event examines issues that affect small and rural hospitals, physicians and other health care professionals. Read more.

The 4th Annual Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit on June 5 and 6 in Orlando, Fla., will feature a keynote address by Wisconsin Medical Society member John Toussaint, MD.
