• OUR MISSION

Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

Pay adjustments based on EHR program start date

Physicians and other eligible professionals (EPs) participating in the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program may be subject to payment adjustments beginning January 1, 2015. Payment adjustments are based on the participation start year, and physicians/EPs must continue to demonstrate meaningful use every year to avoid payment adjustments in subsequent years.

Physicians/EPs who began participating in the EHR Incentive Program in 2011 or 2012 must demonstrate meaningful use for the entire year of 2013 to avoid the payment adjustment in 2015. Those who began participating in 2013 must demonstrate meaningful use for a 90-day reporting period in 2013 to avoid the payment adjustment.

If participation begins in 2014, physicians/EPs must demonstrate meaningful use for a 90-day reporting period during the first nine months of 2014 to avoid the payment adjustment.

Physicians/EPs must continue to demonstrate meaningful use every year to avoid payment adjustments in subsequent years. Those who are eligible for both the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs must demonstrate meaningful use under only one of the programs to avoid the payment adjustment. Physicians and EPs who are eligible for only the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program are not subject to the payment adjustment.
