MCW’s Kerschner named founding officer of international otitis media group

Wisconsin Medical Society member Joseph E. Kerschner, MD, has been named the founding secretary of the International Society for Otitis Media. The organization was established earlier this year to provide an international forum to advance the frontiers of research, education, and patient care as they relate to otitis media.

A board-certified otolaryngologist, Dr. Kerschner is dean of the medical school and executive vice president of the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). He has been a member of the MCW faculty since 1998. According to a news release from MCW, Dr. Kerschner’s clinical focus is on otitis media (ear infections), airway reconstruction in infants and children and congenital head and neck masses and neoplasms.

The primary mission of the International Society for Otitis Media is to support, coordinate and enhance efforts to improve communication and collaboration among members, related disciplines and societies.
