More than $1.8 million awarded to UW Hospital and Clinics, Mayo

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) has awarded two grants—totaling more than $1.8 million—to University of Wisconsin (UW) Hospital and Clinics and Mayo Health System-Eau Claire. The grants are to support expansion and development of new graduate medical education (GME) programs with new residents practicing in rural and underserved areas of the state.

UW Hospital and Clinics’ 5-year $1.125 million grant is earmarked for three new general surgery residents. Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire will receive $750,000 over the next three years to develop a new family medicine program to support 15 new residents beginning July 2017.
