The Wisconsin Medical Society is currently accepting nominations to the WISMedPAC Board of Directors. WISMedPAC is the Society’s political action committee (PAC), and the WISMedPAC Board is responsible for guiding the Society’s political action activities.
Responsibilities of the WISMedPAC Board include directing PAC contributions to candidates who are seeking election in key state races, are in leadership roles or have shown serious interest in health care policies. The Board also authorizes PAC contributions to various partisan legislative fundraising committees. Contributions are made in the name of WISMedPAC and are at the direction of the WISMedPAC Board of Directors.
The WISMedPAC Board works to ensure that physicians are active participants in the political process. 2015 will once again be a critical political year, with a race for the Wisconsin Supreme Court happening in the spring, and the Board will play an important role in working to increase political contributions from physicians.
The Society’s Board of Directors will appoint no less than eight, but can appoint up to 16 nominees to the WISMedPAC Board during its meeting, Jan. 31, 2015. Appointments are for one year.
Nominations should be e-mailed by Friday, Jan. 9, to Chris Rasch in the Society’s Government and Legal Affairs Department. More information about the Society’s political opportunities is available online.
