Annual Meeting April 4-6 in Green Bay; Caucus meetings start March 2

The Wisconsin Medical Society’s Annual Meeting is just six weeks away. Scheduled April 4-6 at the KI Convention Center in Green Bay, 2014 marks the first time the event has been held outside Madison since 2000. But that’s not the only change in store for delegates and other attendees at this year’s meeting.

The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation will kick things off Friday, April 4 with a reception at Lambeau Field honoring Society members who received their medical degree 25 years ago. Society board members, delegates and alternate delegates are invited to attend the event, “Champions of Medicine Meet Champions of Lambeau,” and help recognize their colleagues. Brown County Medical Society is lead sponsor and host for the reception, which will include hors d oeuvres, a cash bar, raffle, a short program and opportunities for photos with Lambeau Field in the background.

The House of Delegates (HOD), the Society’s policy-making body, will convene Saturday, April 5, with sessions on Saturday and Sunday. The HOD considers resolutions submitted by Society members and adopts policies that guide the Society’s decisions and activities on a variety of health care issues. The resolutions submitted for consideration at the 2014 Annual Meeting will be posted in the members-only section of the Society’s website* and will be available for review and comment by February 27.

In addition to the HOD opening session and subsequent reference committees, Saturday’s agenda also includes two CME opportunities focused on the Affordable Care Act and opioid prescribing, a new health issue forum that will feature invited panelists from other medical societies discussing issues and trends in health care from a national perspective, as well as awards and the inauguration of Richard Dart, MD, as the Society’s next president.
