Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

KEPRO to handle Medicare beneficiary complaints and quality of care reviews

When the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services begins a new phase of its quality improvement work on August 1, KEPRO will become the new Beneficiary and Family Centered Care Quality Improvement Organization in Wisconsin. The new program structure separates case review and quality improvement functions, which will be performed by different contractors.

To avoid delays and errors, cases and requests should be submitted to MetaStar through Thursday, July 31, 2014, using the current process. Beginning Friday, August 1, 2014, health care providers and Medicare beneficiaries must contact KEPRO toll-free at 855.408.8557 for all appeal requests and quality of care concerns.

MetaStar, which has served Medicare beneficiaries and their families through medical case review for more than 40 years, will continue working with providers and the community on multiple data-driven quality initiatives to improve patient safety, reduce harm and improve clinical care at the local and regional levels.
