Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

Society’s political programs strive to meet ‘ambitious’ 3rd quarter goal

Although elections are four months away, the Society’s political programs are “upping the octane,” according to WISMedPAC Board Chair John Hartman, MD.

“This is a critical election year with many key races, and as the campaigns heat up so will WISMedPAC and WISMedDIRECT activity,” said Dr. Hartman. “Data from the Government Accountability Board for 2011-2012 show that trial attorneys contribute far more to candidates than physicians do—by a margin of 7 to 1. Contributions made through the Society’s political programs will help us protect physicians and patients by supporting candidates who promote sensible health care legislation.”

The Society has set an ambitious goal of raising and distributing $100,000 through its political programs. Contributions each of the first two quarters exceeded goals, but it is important to maintain that momentum in the next two quarters.

“Making a contribution today through either program will help us exceed our ambitious 3rd quarter goal, and more importantly will allow us to support and protect our members’ interests during the campaign season,” Dr. Hartman added.
