A two-part webinar titled “Orientation to the House of Delegates” is now available on the Society’s website. Narrated by Vice Speaker Michael Miller, MD, Part 1 provides an overview of the House of Delegates (HOD) and the Society’s policy-making process, including resolution structure, reference committees, and how a resolution becomes Society policy. Part 2, narrated by Speaker Charles Rainey, MD, JD, provides information regarding the parliamentary procedure used in the HOD and practical advice on how to make motions and take other common actions.
The webinars are available here.* The PowerPoint files for each video also are available for download and printing.
In addition to the webinars, Doctors Rainey and Miller will be holding new delegate Q&A sessions on Saturday and Sunday mornings, April 5-6, of the Annual Meeting in Green Bay. These sessions offer delegates and alternate delegates the opportunity to ask questions of the Speaker and Vice Speaker and can be helpful in preparing for debates on the floor of the House of Delegates.
