When the Society’s Council on Legislation meets tomorrow, its primary discussion will focus on potential legislation for the 2015-2016 state legislative biennium that would create a statewide Professionals Health Program in Wisconsin. One such proposal would grant the program the authority to monitor credential holders as an alternative/supplement to disciplinary action by bodies such as the Medical Examining Board.
Other Council topics include a recent Commonwealth Fund report highlighting the nation’s health systems and identifying areas of improvement in each state, a discussion of the Medical Examining Board’s ongoing review of its disciplinary practices and a thorough review of the Society’s Policy Compendium for discussion on policies urging legislative activities.
The meeting begins at 1 p.m. at Society headquarters in Madison. You can access the Council’s agenda and materials on the members-only section of the Society’s website. Contact Mark Grapentine, JD, or Nikita Sessler in the Society’s Government Relations Department with any additional questions.
