Second Consider the Conversation film premieres on PBS May 27

Consider the Conversation 2: Stories About Cure, Relief, and Comfort is set to air on Wisconsin Public Television Tuesday, May 27 at 9 p.m. The documentary, produced by Michael Bernhagen and Terry Kaldhusdal, is the second in a series that explores issues related to communication at the end of life. Bernhagen presented the film at the Society’s Council on Health Care Ethics meeting May 9.

Consider the Conversation 2 explores the effect of American medicine’s success on the patient/physician relationship and sheds light on the important role communication plays in helping both patient and physician navigate the murky waters of severe chronic disease.

In 2010, the first Consider the Conversation film strongly influenced the Society’s efforts to launch the Honoring Choices Wisconsin (HCW) initiative. HCW has now assisted 16 Wisconsin health care organizations facilitate advance care planning conversations with thousands of patients.
