Elections are just six weeks away, and thanks to contributions from these physicians the Society’s Running with the PAC campaign is kicking into high gear.
For every $500 contribution to WISMedPAC or WISMedDIRECT, a member of the Society’s Government Relations team is walking, running or biking five miles to encourage physicians to get involved in the Society’s political programs. The goal of the campaign is to raise $25,000; so far this month, Society members and others have contributed over $7,000, including four individual $1,000 contributions. To meet the challenge, Mark Grapentine has biked 20 miles, Heidi Green has walked 20 miles, and Chris Rasch has jogged 15 miles—and they each will be logging more this weekend.
“Running with the PAC is our way of putting some fun into political fundraising, but the reason behind the challenge is serious,” said Society CEO Rick Abrams. “The outcome of the November elections is certain to have a significant impact on the legislative environment in Wisconsin and Washington, DC, so it’s essential that physicians are engaged in the process. And right now, before the election, is the time to get involved. We need physician support to help elect leaders who understand critical health care issues.”
