Melzer-Lange elected president of the Medical Society of Milwaukee County

The Medical Society of Milwaukee County announced Tuesday the election of Marlene Melzer-Lange, MD, as president. She succeeds Julie Schuller, MD, whose term ended Dec. 31, 2014.

Doctor Melzer-Lange is medical director, Emergency Services at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Her clinical and research interests are the care of violently injured youth and youth violence prevention, and she serves as medical director of Project Ujima, a community-based program to support victims of violence.

“Doctor Melzer-Lange will be a wonderful leader for the Medical Society of Milwaukee County. In addition to her clinical background and expertise in emergency medicine, she is a passionate advocate for kids and families, especially those who have been victims of violence,” said Peggy Troy, CEO, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in this news release. “As the medical director of Project Ujima, she is well known across the country. And as a Milwaukee native, she truly cares about the health and well-being of our community.”
