The Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation’s annual White Coat Campaign is officially underway, providing a unique opportunity for physicians from different generations to connect with medical students attending school in Wisconsin. Every year through the campaign, each first-year student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin receives a white coat and a note of encouragement from a sponsoring physician.
Physicians can choose to sponsor a specific student, such as a family member or family friend; otherwise the white coat and personal message will be given to a student at random. Either way, the connection can be memorable and rewarding, and each student receives his or her sponsor’s name and address to write a note of thanks afterwards. Click here to read some of last year’s inspiring messages.
To participate in the 2015 White Coat Campaign, e-mail Heather Sonley, the Foundation’s outreach coordinator, or call her at 608.442.3756. Let her know how many students you would like to sponsor at $75 each. Donations also may made online. Enter the dollar amount next to “other amount” and choose “White Coat Campaign” in the “where your donation should go” field.
