CMS comment period on Meaningful Use, Stage 3 final rules ends Dec. 15

Physicians have until Dec. 15 to comment on a series of final rules on the electronic health record (EHR) Meaningful Use program—specifically Stage 3 regulations—which were released recently by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator.

The American Medical Association (AMA) urges physicians to share their own personal experiences and challenges with EHRs and says the rules do little to address problems with the Meaningful Use program and will continue to threaten physicians with a regulatory gauntlet that could lead to less time with patients, more poorly performing EHRs and costly penalties for non-compliance.
