Council to discuss PDMP, new HOPE legislation at next meeting

The Wisconsin Medical Society’s Council on Legislation will hear from Chad Zadrazil, director of the state’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP), at its next meeting Friday, Sept. 18.

Zadrazil, from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services, will update the Council on how the PDMP has evolved since its introduction, what the budget changes mean for the PDMP and what to expect in the legislature this fall, including the recently announced HOPE Phase 2 legislation.

In addition, the Council will discuss Resolution 107: “Truth in Advertising,” adopted by the 2015 House of Delegates, along with a review of the American Medical Association’s Truth in Advertising campaign, which will provide the Council with examples of model legislation from other states.

All Society members are welcome to attend the meeting, which is at 1 p.m. at Society headquarters. An agenda and meeting materials will be available in the members-only section of the Society website* soon. Members may e-mail Casey Pieper in the Society’s Government and Legal Affairs Department or call her at 608.442.3843 for more information.
