Physicians from southern Wisconsin gathered in Janesville Monday for a fundraiser for U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis, Janesville). The event raised almost $30,000 for Congressman Ryan.
“It was a fantastic group of folks, ranging from Society members to physicians who represent specialty societies,” said Society Board member David Murdy, MD, one of the event hosts.
U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan and the Society’s Chief Medical Officer Donn Dexter, MD, at a recent fundraiser for the congressman. Congressman Ryan, who is chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, credited the Society as his “go to” organization for information on health care. He spoke extensively on the sustainable growth rate repeal and other topics, including the overall state of health care in the United States. He spoke briefly about poverty and his travels around the country to seek out the reasons why it’s so difficult to get out of poverty.
