Surgical site infection prevention summit Oct. 28 in Wisconsin Dells

The Wisconsin Division of Public Health and the Department of Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin are hosting “Wisconsin Surgical Site Infection Prevention Summit IV: Advancing Surgical Care Across the Operative Continuum” on Friday, Oct. 28, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells.

Surgical site infections (SSI) continue to be the most frequently reported healthcare-associated infection in Wisconsin with more than 1000 patients suffering postoperative infections each year. This annual statewide conference features expert speakers who will discuss the science of postoperative wound care, practical approaches to the surgical care bundle, the role of the surgical champion and a review of the forthcoming Wisconsin SSI prevention guidelines.

Surgeons, surgical care team members, infection prevention specialists and quality staff in acute care, long-term care and ambulatory surgery centers are invited to participate in this conference. There is no registration fee and a light lunch will be served. Space is limited and registration closes Oct. 20. Click here to register.
