Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

Wisconsin Medical Society Insurance Services launches Association Health Plan

To continue to serve Wisconsin Medical Society members, Wisconsin Medical Society Holdings Corporation has created an Association Health Plan (Plan).

The Wisconsin Medical Society Welfare Benefit Trust (Trust), which was established in July, will oversee the Plan. During the Trust’s inaugural board meeting, three physicians agreed to serve as trustees. Wisconsin Medical Society Insurance and Financial Services, Inc. will be the sole broker for this endeavor, and the trustees unanimously selected WPS as the Plan’s insurance carrier.

“We are very excited to launch the new Association Health Plan,” said Wisconsin Medical Society Holdings CEO Linda Syth. “It will provide a valuable option to Society members, and we are confident WPS will deliver great benefits and service to our new Plan customers.”

The trustees approved six benefit plans that provide a wide range of options for groups, which will be able to select any combination of these benefits to offer to their employees. This flexibility will allow participants to elect the coverage that works best for them and their families.

More than 65 groups throughout the state have expressed interest in the Plan. Next steps include identifying rates and rating methodologies, establishing an underwriting process with WPS and continuing to work with groups to meet their specific insurance needs.
