Medical Examining Board to go slow on telemedicine rulemaking
The State of Wisconsin’s Medical Examining Board (MEB) has created a special committee to make recommendations on how to proceed with potential telemedicine administrative rules. Creation of the committee—an action the MEB took at its monthly meeting in Madison on Wednesday—allows for additional review of the wide array of public comments on the proposed rule. Read more

State’s Group Insurance Board approves issuing self-insurance RFP
The state’s Group Insurance Board (GIB) on Wednesday unanimously approved issuing a request for proposal (RFP) to evaluate the impact of self-insuring the group health plan for state employees starting in 2018. Read more

2016 resolutions now online for review and comment; caucus meetings begin March 2
Resolutions to be considered at the 2016 Wisconsin Medical Society Annual Meeting are now available through the Society’s Virtual Reference Committees (VRCs). These VRCs allow members to view and submit comments on resolutions through the Society website prior to the Annual Meeting in order to foster greater and earlier discussion and to allow members who cannot attend the Annual Meeting to submit their views. Society’s spring leadership series nearing capacity; registration also open for fall

Agnesian HealthCare announces opening of Treffert Center
Society Past President Darold Treffert, MD, a psychiatrist and world-renowned expert on autism and savant syndrome, has teamed up with Agnesian HealthCare in Fond du Lac to open the Treffert Center. Tentatively set to open this spring, the center will feature the Treffert Library, Treffert Academy and the Agnesian Autism, Behavior and Communication Center. Read more
