WCMEW to host graduate medical education summit May 25

The Wisconsin Council on Medical Education and Workforce (WCMEW) is hosting a one-day summit on graduate medical education (GME) May 25 in Wisconsin Dells. Getting It Done: Status Report on Expanding GME in Wisconsin will showcase those who have been at the forefront of expanding GME in Wisconsin and in other parts of the country.

The event aims to help attendees understand the successes, challenges and lessons from Wisconsin’s GME grant recipients as they implement new programs. Participants also will learn how GME programs have overcome resource and distance challenges by creating rural training tracks, making use of distance learning and finding innovative approaches to faculty development.

The event will be held at Glacier Canyon Lodge at The Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells. A full event agenda and registration information will be available in early April.

WCMEW is a multistakeholder organization that includes the Wisconsin Medical Society. Its purpose is to facilitate strategies to assure an adequate supply of health care providers to meet the needs of Wisconsin citizens today and into the future.
