June conference focuses on suicide prevention

As part of the Zero Suicide Initiative, Safe Communities Madison-Dane County is hosting the Zero Suicide Conference June 7-8 at the Sheraton Hotel in Madison. The two-day event will provide a comprehensive overview of suicide prevention and features speakers from around the country.

The goal of the initiative is to change a common perception about suicide—that if someone is determined to end his or her own life, he or she will find a way.

The Zero Suicide Initiative is based on work done in several health care systems, including the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan. Over the course of seven years, this work led to a reported 82 percent decrease in the suicide death rate among health plan members who received mental health care services, including two years in which the suicide rate was zero.

The conference has been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Click here to register and for more information, including a downloadable brochure.
