Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

Physicians able to review hospital data through WHA Information Center

The WHA Information Center (WHAIC) is designated under state law to collect, analyze and disseminate hospital and ambulatory surgery data. Wisconsin Chapter 153 also grants all Wisconsin-licensed physicians the opportunity to review data associated with their license number, where they are the attending or procedure (operating) physicians.

Information is submitted directly from hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers using a secure web portal and is made available to the public—except elements that might identify individual patients. Typical requestors of the data are health care researchers, health care providers, marketing firms or business coalitions interested in analyzing referral or utilization patterns within particular market areas.

Physicians who would like to review their data must first register for access to the WHAIC Portal and complete an authorization step that allows WHAIC to verify each physician’s identity. Once registered, physicians may request their data by clicking here. WHAIC will query its database every quarter for physicians’ national provider identifier (NPIs) and any records matching their NPI will be available for review through the WHAIC Portal. Physicians will receive an e-mail notification when any new reports are available. No action is needed for physicians who decline to review their data.
