“Advancing the Art and Science of Addiction Prevention and Treatment in Wisconsin” is the theme for this year’s Wisconsin Society of Addiction Medicine (WISAM) Conference, scheduled to take place Sept. 14-16 at the Pyle Center in Madison.
Now more than ever, expanding one’s knowledge base of addiction prevention and treatment options is essential for health care professionals across disciplines. This conference will offer timely updates on opioids, stimulants, nicotine, cannabis, alcohol and sedatives. It also will explore mental health and addiction, alternative approaches to pain management, and much more.
A post-conference workshop on Saturday, Sept. 16 will provide training for clinicians in the use of buprenorphine and naltrexone for the office-based management of substance use disorders. Attendees will also have the opportunity on Saturday to participate in an Opioid Prescribing Guidelines workshop that meets the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board’s mandatory education requirement.
