Improve the health of the people of Wisconsin by supporting and strengthening physicians' ability to practice high-quality patient care in a changing environment.

Council on Legislation meets Friday

The Council on Legislation will meet tomorrow—Friday, Dec. 8—to discuss a series of bills and legislative issues. At the top of the agenda are draft bills relating to changes for physician assistants and the Psychology Examination Board. The Council also will discuss Assembly Bill 568 relating to changes regarding Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, as well as bills relating to a proposed 12-month Contraceptive Care Act, direct primary care, breast density notification and alternative health care practitioners. Lastly, the Council will review proposed final language on a visiting physicians bill.

Society staff will provide updates not only on the aforementioned legislation, but also on federal initiatives, actions at the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board, strategic initiatives and pending court cases.
