Antigo physicians Noel and Lakshmi Deep have pledged a $10,000 gift to the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation and are challenging fellow physicians and other supporters to collectively match their donation between now and Dec. 30, 2017.
“Young medical students who choose the arduous and long path to a life of dedication and service to their fellow humans should be congratulated and encouraged,” said Noel Deep, MD, who is currently president of the Wisconsin Medical Society. “To ensure that Wisconsin continues to be a leader in medicine, we urge our fellow physicians to reflect on our own careers and the blessings we have received and find it in our hearts to make at least a small contribution to the Foundation to share with the next generation of physicians.”
Doctor Noel Deep, who practices at Aspirus Antigo Clinic and Aspirus Langlade Hospital, was recognized 10 years ago as a rising leader in the medical profession when he was awarded the Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation’s Kenneth M. Viste, Jr., MD, Young Physician Leadership Award. His wife, Lakshmi Deep, MD, practices at Aspirus Elcho Clinic and is director of the hospitalist program and provides hospitalist services at Langlade Hospital.
In addition to their medical leadership roles and caring for patients, the Deeps are very involved in their community and have been consistent supporters of the Foundation, which provides significant financial support, as well as mentoring and educational opportunities for medical students.
To answer their challenge and help to raise an additional $10,000 before year end, donate online or make your check payable to Wisconsin Medical Society Foundation and mail to 330 E. Lakeside St., Madison, WI 53715. Your gift may also be in the form of appreciated stock or made directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA), if you meet certain age requirements—both of which may offer additional tax advantages. Speak with your tax advisor, then contact the Foundation soon as those types of donations take additional time to complete.
