The Wisconsin Medical Society’s House of Delegates (HOD) will convene Saturday, April 22, 2017, as part of the Society’s 2017 Annual Meeting at the Glacier Canyon Convention Center in Wisconsin Dells. All Society members may submit resolutions for consideration by the HOD to help shape Society policy on important medical issues. The deadline is 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1.
More information about the resolution process and guidelines is available in this Medigram article.
Resolutions will be debated prior to the HOD via district caucus meetings, which are being scheduled now. To date, the following caucus meetings have been scheduled:
- District 1: Wednesday, March 15, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Wheaton Franciscan Wauwatosa Campus, Wauwatosa. (Dinner is provided. Register here if you plan to attend.)
- District 2: Sunday, March 5, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Society headquarters, Madison
Additional dates and more information will be posted here* as it becomes available.
In addition to the district caucuses, members will be able to weigh in on resolutions through virtual references committees, which will be available online Feb. 16, and during reference committees being held at Society headquarters Saturday, April 8, beginning at 9 a.m. Members also will be able to participate via webinar.
Any resolution received after the Feb. 1 deadline will be considered a “late resolution,” unless it is presented by the Board of Directors, the Speaker, Vice Speaker, constitutional officer or by a council or committee of the Society or the HOD. All “late resolutions” will be forwarded to the Rules Committee for review. The Rules Committee will make recommendations to the HOD regarding the acceptance of any “late resolutions” at the April 22 opening session.
