Free medication-assisted therapy waiver course available to clinicians

Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS) has developed a new eight-hour medication assisted treatment (MAT) waiver training for physicians, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants. The free, online training is targeted to clinicians who wish to apply for a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine as part of the treatment of opioid use disorders.

PCSS is a program funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The program was created in response to the opioid overdose epidemic to train primary care clinicians in the evidence-based prevention and treatment of opioid use disorders (OUD) and treatment of chronic pain. PCSS is made up of a coalition, led by American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP), of major healthcare organizations all dedicated to addressing this healthcare crisis.
