Registration open for May 30 opioid treatment course

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison is hosting the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) half-day Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder course on May 30.

The Drug Abuse Treatment Act of 2000 (DATA 2000) specifies training necessary for prescribers to obtain a waiver to engage in office‐based treatment of opioid use disorders with buprenorphine. This course addresses those requirements using a curriculum approved by the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment/Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and ASAM, the organizations named in the DATA 2000 legislation as eligible to prepare and administer these courses.

To meet the required eight hours needed to obtain the waiver, attendees must complete the in-person course as well as four hours of online material within 30 days. Those who complete the training are eligible to receive 4 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ for both the online and in-person portions for the training.
