Wisconsin Medical Society members are reminded that the deadline to submit resolutions for consideration by the House of Delegates (HOD) is 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 1.
The HOD will convene Saturday, April 14, as part of the Society’s 2018 Annual Meeting at the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center in Madison. Prior to that, members will be able to weigh in on resolutions through virtual references committees, which will be available online Feb. 15, and via district caucus meetings, which are being scheduled. Dates and locations are being posted here* as they become available.
In addition to the district caucuses and virtual references committees, members can participate in the live reference committees, which are being held at Society headquarters in Madison Saturday, March 24, beginning at 9 a.m. Reference committees consider resolutions assigned to them as well as any five-year policy reviews and board reports extracted during the hearings. Society members may provide testimony in-person or remotely via GoToWebinar. More information will be included about these options in a future issue of Medigram.
Following the hearings, each reference committee will convene in closed session to provide recommendations to the HOD on its items of business, with reports e-mailed to Delegates, Alternate Delegates and Society Officers, and made available to all members on the Society’s website in advance of the Annual Meeting. Members interested in serving on a Reference Committee are asked to e-mail Noreen Krueger for details.
Submit resolutions for the 2018 House of Delegates to CEO Bud Chumbley, MD, Wisconsin Medical Society, PO Box 1109, Madison, WI 53701 or via e-mail to Noreen Krueger. More information about the resolution process and guidelines is available here.
